[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Andrea Marie (@a.m.moves), a yoga and pilates instructor in Austin, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Andrea Marie: Since moving from Canada a few months ago, it’s been exciting to explore Austin’s fitness scene and find my go-to spots! Sharp Body Pilates: Hands down the best reformer instruction I’ve ever experienced. Jasmine Sharp (@thesharpmethod), the Owner, is a true Pilates star. I also teach mat classes here! Bouldering Project Austin: I love anything that involves hanging from bars or rocks, so this spot—part climbing gym, part traditional gym—is perfect for me. Yoga hOM Austin: A stunning downtown studio with deep, powerful flows, especially with Carter Miles (@cartermilesyoga). RAW Running: Their “hard as F*@!” mentality has definitely pushed me to become a stronger runner.

WATX: What does “wellness” mean to you?

AM: To me, wellness is about feeling truly content in body, mind, and spirit. It’s not defined by a single routine or a rigid set of rules—it looks different for everyone. Wellness is deeply personal, and each of us has our own path to discovering what makes us feel whole. It’s not about striving for perfection or always feeling amazing, but rather about cultivating a sense of ease within yourself. Sometimes wellness is movement; other times, it’s stillness. Sometimes it’s pushing yourself, and other times, it’s offering yourself grace. Ultimately, it’s about creating a life where you feel at home within yourself.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

AM: Over the next year, I want to fully immerse myself in Austin’s incredible fitness community. I’ve already attended several events and have been so inspired by the energy here. On a personal level, I’m focusing on where calisthenics and yoga training intersect—especially mastering the press to handstand. I’m also beginning my Pilates reformer training with Jasmine Sharp (@thesharpmethod). Excited for the growth ahead!

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

AM: First and foremost, I’m a yogini, and Deanna Di Carlo (@dedica) has inspired me from the moment we met. Her flows and body control are next level, and as a fellow former dancer and (current) tall girl, I instantly connected with her. Another huge inspiration is Migzy Pink (@migzpink). During COVID, the ME VERSUS ME Run Club was a beacon of light through endless lockdowns. The way he consistently showed up for his community week after week was truly powerful—a reminder of just how important a strong wellness community can be. Lastly, Jasmine Sharp (@thesharpmethod) embodies everything a great fitness instructor should be—highly skilled, deeply knowledgeable in body mechanics, motivating, and incredibly kind. She’s set the bar for what expert instruction looks like!

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

AM: Don’t underestimate the power of movement, and don’t wait until you feel ready to start—just start. Even on the days you don’t want to, getting your body moving can completely shift your mindset. The endorphins will kick in, and the good feeling will come after you've done the work. Even small changes, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, add up. Never miss an opportunity to move!

[FREE CLASS] We love rocking our Vuori when we’re working out, so we’re thrilled that the athleisure company is in the IRL game, too. WellcommATX got the early scoop on a meet and greet with their newest athlete, Arch Manning (@archmanning), at the brand’s new store on South Congress and joined the crowd of Austinites who gathered to see Arch. We can’t wait to check out more Vuori events around town and to share the early word on these happenings with our subscribers, like this Sunday’s free Barry’s class at the Vuori Domain store from 10 am to noon that will feature refreshments, discounts, and the chance to win a free pair of shorts! Sign up here while you can. We’re curious to see if one of our favorites from the ATX Red Room, Tasha Bates (@tashabates), will be instructing class, DJing the after-class portion, or maybe even both?

[WELLNESS EVENT] Coffee & Chill has been bringing coffee, cold plunges, and community to the masses city by city nationwide, including Austin. You can get in on the action at Coffee & Chill Austin’s third event this Saturday, April 26th, from 10 am to noon at SKYBOX on 6th. Hallie Meland (@halliemeland) and Jack Zimmermann (@zackjimmermann) have assembled a stellar roster of wellness vendors, so get your ticket today!

[FREE PILATES] The Pilates Center Of Austin is hosting an afternoon of free classes as part of their Pilates Day on Saturday, May 3rd. They’re offering a variety of styles and even offering a free 30 minute private session, too. Founded by Wendy Leblanc-Arbuckle (@wendyleblancarbuckle), this studio is the OG of Austin’s Pilates scene, having been around for three decades, so check them out. And if you see Kaylee DeMetrotion (@kdemetrotion), be sure to wish her a happy birthday, too!

[WELLNESS FESTIVAL] Donation-based Black Swan Yoga hosts their third annual Wellness Festival on Sunday, June 1st from 10 am to 2 pm at Pease Park. Last year’s event brought over 1,700 people together and raised over $8,000. Will this year’s event top that? Attendees will enjoy Sound Immersion with Tiffany Asha (@yoga_sounds), Theresa Weeks (@yogawiththeresa), and Amelia Rosenberger. (@thatyogagirl__) and three sessions of Flow with Patsy Montoya (@patsy.montoya.xoxo) & Trent Nivala (@sorcererxo), Tiffany Sipos (@tiffsiposyoga) & Tamara Kenigsberg (@tamarakenigsberg), and Sonali Krish (@connectwithsonali) & Brett Haginas (@girlbrettt). Get your ticket here, and give what you can.
