[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Layne Iund (@layneiund) and Kaleb Hardy (@kalebc.hardy), a Yoga Instructor and the Chief Instructor/Owner of Round Rock Krav Maga in Round Rock, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Layne Iund and Kaleb Hardy: We both train and instruct at Round Rock Krav Maga. It is a martials arts gym that has been in Kaleb's family for over 26 years. With an incredible member and instructor base, RRKM has become a second family to both of us.

WATX: What does “wellness” mean to you?

LI and KH: Wellness means investing in yourself, mind, and body. It means looking beyond short-term gratification and, instead, looking to the future and the kind of life you want to lead. Who do you want to be for your spouse? For your kids? Your family? We believe that wellness acts as a true reflection of self because it speaks to an individual's values and perseverance. Wellness is so much more than eating healthy or lifting weights, it's prioritizing daily, habitual decisions to live a longer and healthier life.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

LI: My goal is to expand my instructing capabilities. Currently, I teach yoga and kickboxing but will undergo Krav Maga instructor training throughout the rest of the year. This will culminate in an 8-hour a day, 3-day certification process that makes you leave everything out on the mat.

KH: Finding better abs! Jokes aside, my focus is actually external on the development of the gym and my ability to help others achieve their own goals.

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

KH: I find inspiration from my parents, Ryan and Shari Hardy. Growing up, my entire life was spent within the gyms owned by my parents, and they have been an incredible guiding influence for my well-rounded journey through the fitness industry.

LI: Ironically enough, I find the most inspiration from Kaleb. No one has pushed, motivated, and inspired me to new heights more than he has. From the moment I met him, he changed my life for the better, both physically and mentally.

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

LI and KH: Whether it's someone taking their first step into wellness or a fitness veteran looking to change things up, the most important thing is to just start! Find something you enjoy, something that you can be consistent doing, and strive each day to be a little better than you were the day before. Also, be willing to push yourself outside of your comfort zone. If you're wanting to be something other than what you are, or change where you currently find yourself, you have to be willing to push your own boundaries. Never be afraid to try something new!

[NEW STUDIO] In case you hadn’t heard, CorePower Yoga is now open in Mueller! We usually hit up the Monarch location, but we couldn’t resist checking out this new spot where the parking was plentiful and the vibes were on point. Katie Maidlow (@katieemayy_) brought great energy and led us through a challenging CorePower Strength X class that we were feeling the rest of the weekend. We appreciated her tip to level up our weights above what we would normally do in a Sculpt class, which has been our go-to CP class. And we had post class plans, but now that we know Veracruz Fonda and Bar is literally across the street from this location, we may have to make the journey north for a one-two punch of mats and Mexican food soon. Learn more about the Mueller studio here, and go flow with them soon.  [HT Caitlin Mundy (@caseofthemundys) for the great studio pics in the IG post]

[FREE YOGA] May 3rd is National Fitness Day, and Black Swan Yoga is celebrating at their Round Rock location. Their 2:30 pm Swan Sculpt class this Saturday, May 3rd, led by Chauntelle Tiibbals (@drchauntelle), will feature an 80s playlist, and there’ll even be an 80s fitness costume contest. One lucky winner will walk away with a free month of yoga, so dress to impress and get ready for some throwback jams. Book your spot for this special class here.

[MOM PILATES] Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and Moms of Mueller and Jasmine Sharp (@thesharpmethod)’s Sharp Body Pilates are teaming up for a Mini Mother’s Day Retreat on Tuesday, May 6th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. It’ll be an evening of “movement, mingling, and mini indulgences” between twenty minute Pilates sessions, charcuterie and champagne, and the chance to connect with other moms. Sign up here while you can, as space is limited. And this event will be held at 4207 Bradwood Road, but we hear a new Sharp Body Pilates location is coming soon!

[HALF-DAY RETREAT] YTX Yoga is holding a transformative half-day retreat led by their own Julia Taylor Veronesi (@juliataylorveronesi) on Saturday, May 17th from 2 to 7 pm. The retreat will kick off with a vinyasa yoga flow then an immersive sound bath, followed by contrast therapy cold plunge and sauna, lymphatic drainage and cupping massage, and a cacao ceremony. Holistic snacks and smoothies will also be served, so be sure to secure your spot by signing up here while you can.
