[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Nikki Norenberg, Founder of EMBODYED in Austin, TX.
WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?
Nikki Norenberg: I teach my EMBODYED classes and pop-ups at Fitcidence, an amazing dance fitness studio with a community that’s open-hearted and ready to dive into whatever magic you throw their way. I also teach my classes and moving meditations virtually inside the EMBODYED app, which you can find here. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me taking yoga at SUHKA YOGA Austin or Pilates at sharpbody Pilates.
WATX: What does wellness mean to you?
NN: Wellness depends on what you need during each season of life. At 25, I had unlimited time and minimal responsibilities, but at 36, with a toddler and growing business, wellness looks a lot different. I believe wellness is when you’re able to listen to your body’s cues about what it needs and actually respond. It’s an inside job. People often get caught up in following every biohack or wellness trick, but everyone’s body is different. For me, wellness is when I can exhale, feel contentment in my body without attaching it to an outcome, and feel my inner spark light up about life.
WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
NN: I’m a toddler mom and solo-preneur, so I’m definitely a busy bee! I love it, but I know my nervous system needs more TLC as I build and grow. Over the next year, I’d love to have a rock-solid, deeply nourished, and well-balanced nervous system so I can continue to grow my family and my capacity. I also want to reintroduce strength training to my routine to support my hormone health.
WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
NN: Honestly, I am deeply inspired by the people who show up to EMBODYED, have no idea what they’re getting into, and give 100% of themselves to the experience. It takes courage, curiosity, and the willingness to be held in a space that’s meant to bring you home to yourself. At the end of each class, we share in a small circle, and I am always floored by the magic that pours out of people’s mouths. They are so honest, vulnerable, and empowering, and I literally leave taking notes on their insights. I receive so much inspiration and strength from my EMBODYED fam! I also have to shout out my husband Gunther Klaus: he is the most consistent person I know and is always helping me find ways and times to prioritize my well-being.
WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
NN: Less noise, more listening. Tune in to what your body is asking for instead of building your routine from a place of "should." When we provide our bodies with the tools they actually need, the results are ten times more powerful than forcing something that doesn’t align with your current life or body.
