[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Megan Knight, a Master Spin Instructor at LOVE Cycling Studio, Coach at HEAT Bootcamp, and Personal Trainer in Austin, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Megan Knight: HEAT Bootcamp and LOVE Cycling Studio.

WATX: What does wellness mean to you?

MK: Wellness, to me, isn’t just about working out or being physically fit: it’s the full picture. It’s taking care of your body and your mind. That means getting good sleep, eating nourishing food, moving your body in a way that feels good, and making space for mental and emotional health. But it’s also about balance. Wellness is being able to have a sweaty gym session and a spontaneous night out with friends. It’s making time for fun, laughter, connection, and sometimes a margarita. It’s not about perfection: it’s about wholeness. Feeling strong, clear, joyful, and grounded in every area of your life.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

MK: For me, wellness goes far beyond working out or eating clean: it's about how I show up in every part of my life. Over the next 12 months, my wellness goals are focused on sustainability, emotional balance, and alignment.

Physically, I want to maintain my strength and performance without burning out. Recovery, rest, and nervous system care are just as important to me now as movement. I’m also working on fueling myself consistently and intentionally, not just for aesthetics, but because I respect what my body does for me.

Mentally and emotionally, I’m prioritizing peace. That means letting go of over-functioning in relationships and making space for connection that feels reciprocal and safe. I want to feel grounded, not just in moments of calm, but as a default. I'm also leaning into more digital detox time to allow for clarity, creativity, and space to breathe.

And honestly, part of my wellness is joy, play, spontaneity, laughter, and feeling sexy in my own skin. It’s not about being perfect: it’s about being whole.

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

MK: Honestly? Megan Fox was the first person who came to mind. And I know she’s not your typical wellness Instagram influencer, but that’s kind of the point. She’s talked about healing from body dysmorphia, being emotionally abused (read her book Pretty Boys Are Poisonous), and having to work really hard to reclaim her body and her sense of self. That’s wellness to me: doing the emotional work and the physical work, then showing up grounded in your power. Plus, she trains hard, eats clean, and prioritizes strength over skinny. She's a full-package baddie, and I love that.

Miley Cyrus is another one. Her whole life has been about evolution. She’s been open about going to EMDR therapy, getting sober, working through family and childhood trauma, and choosing peace over performance. She literally said touring wasn’t healthy for her anymore, so she stopped. That kind of self-awareness and boundary-setting is powerful. She’s still out here killing it, but on her terms. That’s inspiring.

Both of them remind me that wellness isn’t just gym and green juice. It’s healing, choosing yourself, and creating a life that actually supports your nervous system, not just your image. That’s what I’m working toward.

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

MK: Start small. People try to overhaul their whole life in a week and then wonder why it doesn’t stick. The key is to make small, sustainable changes that you can stay consistent with. Especially if you’re trying to get into working out, don’t force yourself into something you hate just because it’s trendy or someone told you it “burns the most calories.” Pick something you actually enjoy. That’s what keeps you showing up.

And don’t try to change everything all at once. Add one new habit at a time. Maybe it’s walking every morning, or getting better sleep, or eating one more balanced meal a day. The goal isn’t perfection: it’s momentum. Consistency beats intensity every time.

And when you have a bad day, which you will, don’t spiral. Don’t quit. Wellness isn’t a straight line, sometimes it’s two steps forward, one step back. But it’s still forward. You’re human, not a robot. So treat yourself like one. Have grace. Have patience. Nobody is perfect, so stop expecting yourself to be. Show up, do your best, and keep it moving. That’s wellness.
