[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Braydon Alley, a Coach at HYROX ATX, Founding Father of Men In The Arena, and Minister of Culture at Squatch Frontier Fitness in Austin, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Braydon Alley: Squatch Frontier Fitness has been home for me since 2021. I’ve helped build community there over the years, and it’s become both my home and my battleground. It’s a unique space with raw energy that’s hard to find anywhere else, and I feel really grateful to be part of it. That said, I’m working to get out of my bubble more and float around the Austin scene. I have in the past, but I’d like to do it more—especially with my HYROX ATX athlete crew. I personally love exploring new gyms and experiences, and I’ve built good friendships with other coaches and communities across the city. It’s nice to be able to show support and stay connected. As far as other gym environments I vibe with outside of Squatch, East Austin Athletic Club and Korrect Fitness (formerly Onnit) are my go-to’s.

WATX: What does wellness mean to you?

BA: Right now, wellness for me is about being a healthy embodiment of my strongest self. That doesn’t just mean hitting the gym—it means cultivating my emotional, spiritual, physical, mental, and even financial health. All of it. Wellness is an ongoing process of checking in, aligning, and building from the inside out.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

BA: I can’t really speak to twelve months out, but for the next six months, I’m shifting my focus. I’ve been competing at a high level for the past four years in a sport called HYROX and in other side quests, and now I’m stepping back from the performance loop to restore and rebuild. It’s about getting back to the basics, prioritizing recovery, dialing in my circadian rhythm, and going more inward. I’m letting go of the external ambitions around fitness, keeping competitions off the calendar for now, and leaning into the freedom that brings. I’ll still create mini challenges for myself and invite others into that, but I’m also looking forward to jumping on my friends’ workouts more. To me, that sounds exciting.

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

BA: My men’s group, Men In The Arena. They’re everything. It’s a crew of go-getters in all arenas: fitness, business, and life. They keep me grounded and motivated when I’m not feeling it. It’s powerful to have a group you can return to, reflect with, and grow alongside. There are honestly too many names to list within that group, but they know who they are.

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

BA: You already have the answers but sometimes you need to shake your environment to actually hear them. Put yourself around people who are doing the things you want to explore. That doesn’t mean copy them. It just means get in the room. Sometimes a new environment is the spark you need. From there, clarity tends to follow. The path might change, but movement will reveal direction.
