[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Jackson Mitchell, Founder of The Walk-On Mentality, a high-performance fitness and mindset coaching business in Austin, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Jackson Mitchell: I train at KOLLECTIVE.

WATX: What does wellness mean to you?

JM: Wellness is comprehensive. It is a combination of mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health. When we are healthy and pay adequate attention to each of these components of our overall wellness, I feel like it gives us the best chance to be at our best and, ultimately, to achieve our goals.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

JM: I have several races over the next six to twelve months, but my goal is always to be better than I was yesterday.

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

JM: I am very fortunate to have great friends both here in Austin and in other cities who, without us ever discussing, are silently pushing each other to be great every day. To name a few: Troy Castle, Gus Manke, Jacob Donahue, Mitch Ammons, Robin Persegol, James English, Spencer Smith, Miranda Leal, Elysia Vickas, and Abby Bandi. And I could honestly list so many more.

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

JM: As cliche as it sounds, the biggest advice I would give anyone is to just take the first step. Literally just start. It doesn't have to be sexy or complex. It doesn't have to be a 90 minute workout programmed with high levels of specififcity. All it takes is ten minutes to break a sweat. You will never finish a workout and regret doing it.
