[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Jack Woolsey, a Hybrid Coach at East Austin Athletic Club in Austin, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Jack Woolsey: I primarily spend time at East Austin Athletic Club since that's where I coach, but I also spend time at Lifetime Fitness and Korrect every now and then to mix it up!

WATX: What does wellness mean to you?

JW: I truly believe that balance is key, in every aspect, and this translates to how I view fitness. Worked your ass off and conquered a workout? Hit a new PR? Go enjoy an ice cold beer with your friends. Enjoy it: it's gonna be okay.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

JW: Currently, all my focus is on Hyrox, specifically Mexico City and Dallas this Fall. I'll continue to focus on Hyrox in early 2026, most likely competing in Hyrox Houston. In the second half of 2026, my current plan is to shift gears and tackle Ironman next. Love a new challenge!

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

JW: There are a ton of people who inspire, including all the members I've had the honor of coaching, but there are a few highlights. First, one of my close friends, Rafa Quintero. Rafa is an Olympian and someone who I look up to when it comes to all things fitness and working out. He also joined me in my first Hyrox race in 2024 in NYC, which made it all the more memorable. My second person is Carolyn Watkins, an Austin local and Hyrox beast. I've had the honor of coaching and training with her over the past few months, and she is by far the hardest working person I know and also someone I consider a close friend. She's the next big thing in Hyrox, mark my words! And finally, when it comes to accountability, Gus Manke, my coach, does not let me slack. I fully believe that every coach should have a coach, and I've got a great one that pushes me and holds me accountable on a daily basis.

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

JW: Start small and start simple. Pick a small target, either daily or weekly and focus on nailing that. Then slowly add new targets and routines. Don't go from 0 to 100: that's a sure fire way to burn yourself out or physically hurt yourself.
