[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Brittany Peralta, a Pilates instructor at Forma Pilates and S2 Fitness Studio in Austin, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Brittany Peralta: I’ll never preach one method of movement. I think it’s important to have nuance in how you choose to train, so I like to bounce around. Strength training, Pilates, and low impact cardio is the rotation I prefer: S2 Fitness Studio and Forma Pilates primarily, plus various gyms to strength train.

WATX: What does wellness mean to you?

BP: It’s a loaded question as there are so many aspects to wellness. Personally, I think it’s about finding balance, pouring into yourself spiritually, mentally, and physically. They all go hand in hand to create a sense of wholeness. For me, movement informs the other areas of my life. When I’m connected to my body through Pilates or any form of intentional movement, I’m more grounded in my thoughts, more patient with myself and others, and more in tune spiritually. Wellness for me looks like awareness, alignment, and showing up for myself consistently.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

BP: Maintaining that balance I mentioned earlier is always the goal. It’s something I’m constantly working toward because it’s not realistic to pour into every area 100% of the time. Over the next year, I really want to lean into practices that support both my body and mind, like incorporating more yoga into my routine. It helps me slow down, be present, and connect to myself in a softer way, which feels like exactly what I need in this season.

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

BP: All of my clients! It’s really incredible to see how people show up for themselves every day. Pia Beck is a super woman and a true example of making it all happen. And my friends encourage me and pour into me daily: Victoria Handy, Brenda Puapuaga, Valeria Sanchez, and Ilene Coffee.

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

BP: My advice would be to start from a place of connection rather than pressure. Before changing your wellness routine, take the time to listen to your body and notice what it truly needs. In Pilates, we focus on mindful movement. The idea that quality always outweighs quantity. The same applies to wellness as a whole. Small, intentional choices practiced consistently can create the biggest shifts. Allow your routine to support you and reflect the season of life you’re in.
