[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Chase Fleming, a Photographer, Filmmaker, and Storyteller for athletes and athletic brands in Austin, TX.

WellcommATX: Where do you work…out?

Chase Fleming: When I’m not logging solo miles around Lady Bird Lake or the Walnut Creek Trail, you can usually find me running with the GOOD GRiEF crew, cycling with Breakfast Club, or getting in strength and recovery sessions at Austin Bouldering Project. I also love contrast therapy, and Mantle Thermal Haus has been huge for keeping me healthy through busy travel and shoot schedules.

WATX: What does wellness mean to you?

CF: For me, wellness is about alignment: physically, mentally, and creatively. It’s being able to move my body, create meaningful work, and show up for the people in my life without feeling depleted. It’s as much about sleep, community, and boundaries as it is about training or nutrition.

WATX: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?

CF: Consistency over intensity. I’ve spent a lot of the past few years on the road, so I’m focusing on building sustainable routines when I’m home: strength training twice a week, regular sauna and cold therapy, and continuing to explore different endurance events. I’d also love to work toward a trail ultra next fall.

WATX: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?

CF: I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who live what they preach. My girlfriend is the biggest source of inspiration and motivation. Sally McRae has been a huge influence in helping me understand mental strength and self-belief. And locally, Sam Hendel and the GOOD GRiEF crew have shown me what consistency and community look like over time.

WATX: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?

CF: Start small and show up. You don’t need to overhaul everything overnight: just pick one thing that feels doable and build from there. Consistency compounds, and the momentum you build will carry over into every area of your life.
