WellcommATX: The Best of Austin's Wellness Community
WellcommATX is the email newsletter bringing you the best of Austin’s wellness community. Get On The List and get Wellcomm sent directly to your inbox. Have a friend who would love Wellcomm? Then please forward our email or tag them on our IG.
[EVENTS RETURN] We’re bringing back Austin event coverage! But rather than share a long list, we’re curating one event per email and calling it our Hit Event. Keep reading to see what we picked this week, how we choose our Hit Events, and the experiences you can expect from Wellcomm going forward.
[HIGH FIVE] We gave a High Five to Jordyn Rubio, an Instructor at CPY Clarendon and Life Time Clarendon in Arlington, VA.
Wellcomm: Where do you workout?
Jordyn Rubio: I take a cross-training approach to my fitness routine, with a strong emphasis on both strength and mobility. I regularly practice yoga sculpt and vinyasa-style classes at CorePower. Recently, I’ve also incorporated high-intensity interval training at Barry's that’s a combination of treadmill work and strength training.
WC: What does wellness mean to you?
JR: Wellness is about cultivating a strong connection with my body and approaching movement with both intention and awareness. I’ve learned the importance of listening closely to what my body needs on any given day. I also believe wellness should feel sustainable and enjoyable, so I try to keep my routine fun, light, and adaptable. It’s about creating balance and a sense of well-being that supports both physical and mental health.
WC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
JR: Over the next twelve months, my wellness goals are centered more on growth and exploration than strict metrics. I’m focused on becoming a stronger, more efficient runner, while also continuing to deepen my flexibility and mobility through my yoga practice. I value progress that feels intuitive and sustainable, so I’m less focused on specific benchmarks and more on consistently showing up, listening to my body, and evolving my practice in a way that supports both performance and overall well-being.
WC: Who are some people who inspire you, motivate you, or keep you accountable when it comes to your wellness?
JR: I’m deeply inspired by my community, especially my fellow yoga teachers and friends who continue to grow their practice and share it authentically. Seeing them thrive keeps me motivated and reminds me of the impact and creativity within the wellness space. I also draw a lot of inspiration from my mom, who has always been a strong source of encouragement and accountability for me. Her support and consistency have played a big role in shaping my approach to health and wellness.
WC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
JR: My biggest advice would be to focus on finding joy in the process. Wellness routines are much more sustainable when you genuinely enjoy what you’re doing, rather than forcing yourself into something that feels like a chore. I also encourage starting small: building simple, consistent habits over time can lead to meaningful, lasting change. Just as importantly, prioritize what supports your mental health, not just your physical goals. And above all, give yourself grace. Progress isn’t linear, and creating a routine that’s flexible and compassionate will always be more impactful in the long run.
