[High Five] We gave a High Five to Trevor Barton, an Instructor at Barry’s in Austin, TX.
Wellcomm: Where do you work out?
Trevor Barton: Barry’s is my home base. I teach there, take other instructors’ classes, and love the energy people bring into the Red Room. Outside of class, I’m strength training with a specific goal in mind: competing in bodybuilding in spring 2027. I enjoy having my own goal to work toward while helping clients pursue theirs.
WC: What does wellness mean to you?
TB: Wellness means having the strength, energy, and presence to enjoy your life and show up for the people in it. I love working hard, but I’m also learning to give food, sleep, recovery, and time with others the attention they deserve. When I feel well, I have more to give to my clients, to my work, and to the people I love.
WC: What are your wellness goals over the next twelve months?
TB: I’m preparing for a bodybuilding competition in spring 2027, so I want to train with purpose, get stronger, and learn from every stage of the process. I also want to keep growing as a Barry’s instructor. My goal is for people to leave my classes feeling proud of what they did and excited to come back. Since moving to Austin, I’ve been especially grateful for the chance to build friendships and community through fitness.
WC: Who inspires, motivates, or keeps you accountable?
TB: My clients inspire me constantly. Someone can walk in carrying the weight of a long day, give the workout an honest shot, and leave standing a little taller. Watching that happen never gets old. I’m also grateful for the instructors I learn from in class and the people close to me who encourage me to follow through on my goals.
WC: What advice would you share with someone looking to change their wellness routine?
TB: We only have so much time in this life, and our bodies give us the chance to experience so much of it. Think about what you want to do, how you want to feel, or who you want to become. Then take one step that gives that idea a physical form. It might be your first class, your first walk, or your first time lifting a weight. Keep showing up, and give yourself the chance to see what’s possible.
[WellcommATX Hit Event] Saturday, October 3rd: Coffee & Chill Texas Tour Finale
How do we pick our Hit Events? They’re curated exclusively for our WellcommATX Community from former High Fives. Each week, we’ll highlight one standout fitness event in the WellcommATX email. This could be:
a group workout
a pop-up fitness event
a race or charity run
a pickleball tournament
a cycling ride
a recovery event or
anything else fitness-related
These events will be shared with all Wellcomm email subscribers, but submissions from former High Fives who are subscribers are prioritized, ideally for events they’re organizing, leading, or personally involved with.
We’ll feature one event per week, so spots are limited. We’re grateful for everything our High Fives do for our fitness community and are excited to share these exclusive ongoing updates from the best of Austin!
That’s this week’s edition of WellcommATX. Like what you read? Get On The List and get future editions sent directly to your inbox. Have a friend who needs to read Wellcomm? Forward our email to them or tag them on our IG. Until next time, take care of yourself, and take care of each other.
